This guy was the problem. The main wiring down to the Zener diode had shorted. Some tape and some split loom fixed the problem.
It's almost there at this point.
IT'S ALIVE!! Started on the third kick. Here I have some fans for temperature control while I get it tuned and set up. The cam has to be run it at 2500 RPM or above for about 20 minutes. It ran like a charm. Much quiter and the mechanicals sound great!
And, it's ready for the road!
Well, It was all worth it. I have taken it out a few times and it runs like a new bike. Starts easily, idles well, and runs like a cat with it's tail on fire. It also handles great. I have about 150 miles on it now. It was a lot of work and a lot of frustration but I'm sure glad I went ahead and did it all and did it right.
See you on the highway, be sure to wave. I'll be the guy with the big goofy smile.
